The objective of this thesis is to define and analyze the so called performance gap between the energy consumptions of a real building and the ones obtained from representative models of the same building. Two schools located in Seregno have been chosen as subjects of study, knowing the real energy consumptions of these two (taken from the gas bills). The real consumptions were compared with the ones obtained from the simulations carried out on models created using the software IES VE. Two different configurations were defined: the first one, following the standards by ASHRAE given directly by the software, and the second one in accordance with all the available real data. The comparison between the results has shown the existence of significant discrepancies between the energy consumptions, although the second model should be closer to the real one. The main causes of this gap were illustrated, focusing the attention on the very large topic of occupants behavior, that nowadays is one of the most studied subject by many researchers in energy saving in buildings. A simplified model of classroom has been created, starting from statistical analysis on all the schools in Seregno, in order to find out the most common geometrical characteristics to be set in the model. The aim of the last part of this work is to find out how significant is the variation of different parameters, defined as principal causes of discrepancy between the energy consumptions.
L’obiettivo del progetto di tesi è stato quello di definire e analizzare il cosiddetto performance gap tra i consumi energetici di un edificio esistente e quelli ottenuti da modelli rappresentativi dell’edificio stesso. Due scuole site in Seregno sono divenute oggetto di studio, avendo a disposizione i reali consumi energetici di queste ultime (ottenuti dalle bollette). I reali consumi vengono confrontati con quelli ottenuti da simulazioni effettuate su modelli creati attraverso il software IES VE. Sono stati definiti due differenti prototipi: il primo, seguendo gli standard ASHRAE forniti dal software stesso, e il secondo conforme a tutti i dati reali disponibili. Il confronto tra i risultati ha confermato l’esistenza di significative discrepanze tra i consumi energetici, pur avendo creato un secondo modello che dovesse avvicinarsi a quello realmente esistente. Sono state illustrate le principali cause di questo divario, ponendo particolare attenzione al vasto argomento del comportamento degli occupanti, che ad oggi è uno degli argomenti più studiati dai ricercatori in campo energetico. E’ stato creato un modello di classe scolastica semplificato, compiendo analisi statistiche aventi come oggetto tutte le scuole del comune di Seregno, in modo tale da trovare le caratteristiche geometriche di partenza del modello. Lo scopo dell’ultima parte del progetto è stato trovare quanto siano influenti i diversi parametri definiti come principali cause delle discrepanze tra consumi energetici.
