A new approach to the modern art museum. Transformation of Salipazari port area into a new arts and cultural center

Istanbul is a city that has hosted different cultures throughout history. It has been the most important port city in history through the years,and nowadays, it is a thriving and growing place, which unites the two continents and embraces everyone. The increasing population and congestion, heavy traffic and mechanization are the results of urbanization.Cultural elements, green, public spaces, have been disappeared in this rapid urbanization. Nowadays it is forgotten that they are the most important elements of the city. This project seeks the negative conditions caused by urbanization, and searches for improving the quality of the area. It also offers suggestions on how to re-develop fragile urban areas. The project also seeks a solution for Istanbul Modern Art Museum, which is planned to be demolished and rebuilt in the area.Design solutions propose a new urban perspective to users.It aims to strengthen connections between people and the city.

Istanbul è una città che ha ospitato diverse culture nel corso della storia. È stata la città portuale più importante della storia nel corso degli anni, e oggi, è un luogo fiorente e crescente, che unisce i due continenti e abbraccia tutti. La crescente popolazione e la congestione, il traffico pesante e la meccanizzazione sono i risultati dell'urbanizzazione. Elementi culturali, verde, spazi pubblici, sono stati scomparsi in questa urbanizzazione rapida. Oggi si dimentica che sono gli elementi più importanti della città. Questo progetto cerca le condizioni negative causate dall'urbanizzazione, e cerca di migliorare la qualità dell'area. Offre anche suggerimenti su come rielaborare le aree urbane fragili.
