Since the late 1990s, street art has gained the popularity all around the world, and it has started to be done legally in several projects because of its positive effects in physical, social and economic improvements of urban spaces. Though street art is still a controversial social issue, policy makers can turn controversial street art into an advantage for urban developments. This research helps to better understand street art, investigates possible governance models for street art projects, and explores possible ways to make street art a tool in urban regeneration projects, through data collection such as literature reviews, surveys, interviews and observations. It also examines the Yeldegirmeni Neighbourhood Regeneration Project to understand how street art can be successfully used in a regeneration project. Findings indicate that several factors such as other integrated interventions, the citizen perception or the physical characteristics of a project area can produce different results for street art related regeneration projects.

Abstract
Findings indicate that several factors such as other integrated interventions, the citizen perception or the physical characteristics of a project area can produce different results for street art related regeneration projects.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
