Il Palazzo Ducale di Sabbioneta. Storia della costruzione e dell'uso attraverso le fonti documentarie

The thesis investigates the historical construction and use of the Ducal Palace of Sabbioneta from the 16th to the 21st century, through the examination of the bibliography and documentary sources. The result is an organic collection of the documents and literature produced so far regarding this building, the heart of the city conceived by Vespasiano Gonzaga. The thesis work develops starting from the historical context in which Sabbioneta is built in relation to the life of Vespasiano Gonzaga, a necessary element for understanding the different phases in which the prince realizes his Palace, symbol of his political rise. The body of the thesis develops in a critical way the construction events and the uses of the Palace evoked by archival documents and literature. The architectural drawings constitute a graphic support for reading the documents and highlight, through the graphic convention of red and yellow, the transformations of the Palace and the uses of the different historical periods. The second volume: document registers, drawn up in chronological order, provides, in support of each historical period, the transcribed and commented documents and literature, for an easier comprehension of the text.

La tesi indaga la storia costruttiva e d’uso del Palazzo Ducale di Sabbioneta dal XVI al XXI secolo, attraverso l’esame della bibliografia e delle fonti documentarie. Il risultato è una raccolta organica dei documenti e della letteratura fino ad ora prodotti relativamente a questo edificio, cuore della città ideata da Vespasiano Gonzaga. L’elaborato di tesi si sviluppa partendo dal contesto storico nel quale Sabbioneta si costruisce in relazione alla vita di Vespasiano Gonzaga, elemento necessario per comprendere le diverse fasi con cui il principe realizza la propria dimora, simbolo della sua ascesa politica. Il corpo della tesi sviluppa in modo critico le vicende costruttive e gli usi del Palazzo evinte dai documenti d’archivio e dalla letteratura. Gli elaborati architettonici prodotti costituiscono un supporto grafico alla lettura dei documenti ed evidenziano, attraverso la convenzione grafica dei rossi e gialli, le trasformazioni del Palazzo e gli usi dei diversi periodi storici. L’appendice Il secondo volume: regesto dei documenti, redatto in ordine cronologico, fornisce, a corredo di ciascun periodo storico, i documenti e la letteratura trascritti e commentati, per una più agevole comprensione del testo.
