The presence of shopping malls in cities and mainly their suburbs brings many issues making this type of building harmful to urban development and at the same time highly demanded from a commercial point of view. In fact, shopping malls we see today are very different from the ones were designed by Victor Gruen, “father of the mall”. The work aim is to understand how it is possible to create instead of a collection of fully enclosed space occupied mostly by retailers and surrounded by seas of surface parking a vital and dynamic part of a city.
