Connect. Dinamiche di ibridazione e condivisione nel co-living: dalla dimensione lavorativa all'abitare nello scenario contemporaneo. Intervento progettuale nell’edificio degli uffici amministrativi dell’ex mercato ittico di Via Sammartini 73 e nei magazzini 82 e 82bis, adiacenti alla Stazione di Milano Centrale

In the context of an increasingly changing and flexible society, it is fundamental to analyze those processes and the social and spatial transformations that are capable of attributing new meanings to daily routines and, in particular, to concepts such as hospitality and work. From this consideration, arises the interest to study those permeable places - that can be defined as “hybrid”-, where the boundaries between the world of contemporary living and the working sphere become progressively blurred: in some cases these two concepts co-exist, while in other cases they are completely integrated with each other. The project aims to contribute to the definition of a recently developed hybrid spatial solution that has a significant impact on the interior design culture: the co-living phenomena, a receptive facility that can integrate different types of hosting and working functions to satisfy its guests.To support the new needs and behaviors of a slice of society that has a significant role in the contemporary context - and that, in this project, is analyzed according to the point of views of “thinkers” and “makers”-, a system of services-areas has been developed. These places offer the opportunity to share spaces and experiences thanks to the application of principles derived from the sharing economy, and, above all, they allow to work and to develop a network of relations in a stimulating, as well as welcoming and comfortable environment. The concept of horizontal community is then fundamental as it relates and overlaps with the external reality: therefore, beyond the aims of representing an exchange network, the space has also to be rooted in a context that facilitate connections, even the physical ones. For this reason, the project is located in the area adjacent to the Central Station of Milan. More specifically, it occupies the building dedicated to the administrative offices of the former Fish Market, in Via Sammartini 73, and two warehouses located in front of it. Nowadays, this strategic area, mainly known for its negative reputation, starts being re-designed and reconsidered by the Municipality of Milan. The space is developed according to the principles of sharing and “privacy on demand”, it offers open spaces rather than individual spots in the area dedicated to work, as well as common areas and personal spaces for those who live this experience as being in a real home. The common trait is the different level of temporality. The keywords are comfort, community and productivity: the home atmosphere blends with the practicality of both the working spaces and living labs, without neglecting the conviviality and the connection with the surrounding neighborhood.

Nel contesto di una società sempre più mutevole e flessibile è fondamentale analizzare i processi e le trasformazioni sociali e spaziali in grado di attribuire nuove identità alle dinamiche quotidiane, in particolare ai concetti di ospitalità e di lavoro. Da questa riflessione nasce l’interesse ad approfondire quei luoghi permeabili, che possono essere definiti ibridi, in cui i confini fra il mondo dell’abitare temporaneo e la sfera lavorativa diventino progressivamente meno definiti, in alcuni casi co-esistenti e in altri integrati l’uno con l’altro.  Il progetto intende contribuire alla definizione di una tipologia spaziale ibrida di recente concezione con un significativo impatto per la cultura del progetto degli interni: il co-living, una struttura ricettiva capace di integrare al suo interno differenti funzioni ospitali e lavorative per soddisfare gli ospiti. Per supportare nuovi comportamenti e necessità di una categoria sociale che ha un significativo impatto nel contesto contemporaneo, e che nel progetto è analizzata secondo il punto di vista di  “thinkers” e “makers”, è stato sviluppato un sistema di spazi-servizio che offrono la possibilità di condividere spazi ed esperienze, applicando i principi della sharing economy, ma soprattutto di lavorare e di sviluppare un network di conoscenze in un ambiente stimolante, nel contempo accogliente e confortevole. Fondamentale è la dimensione di una community orizzontale che si rapporti anche con la realtà esterna e si intersechi con essa: perciò, nonostante lo spazio voglia rappresentare già una rete di scambio, deve esso stesso essere immerso in un contesto che faciliti le connessioni, anche fisiche. Per questo motivo, il progetto si insedia nella zona adiacente alla Stazione Centrale di Milano, nello stabile dedicato agli uffici amministrativi dell’Ex Mercato Ittico, in Via Sammartini 73, e nei due Magazzini situati davanti ed esso: questa zona strategica, conosciuta solo per i suoi lati negativi, oggigiorno inizia ad essere ripensata e rivalutata da parte del Comune di Milano. Lo spazio si sviluppa secondo i principi di condivisione e di privacy “on demand”, presentando spazi open-space piuttosto che spot dedicati al singolo nell’area dedicata al lavoro, ma anche aree comuni e spazi personali per chi vive questi luoghi come una vera e propria “casa”: peculiarità comune è il diverso livello di temporaneità. Le parole chiave sono comfort, community e produttività: l’atmosfera di casa si fonde con la praticità di spazi lavoro e living labs, senza trascurare la convivialità e il rapporto con la realtà di quartiere circostante.
