Fondazione Omodei. Ibridazione tra antico e contemporaneo

The monumental and functional recovery of Palazzo Omodei, operations in which the municipal administration of Cusano Milanino is involved, required a historical-critical reconsideration of the building, an interesting example of the architecture of the seventeenth-century suburban villa in Milan, in an historical period where the influences of Spanish domination cross, with which the Omodei family has close relations. Through the parameters of the architectural research the historical aspects, the peculiarities and the characters of the Omodei building were investigated as well as the events related to the different uses of the building, from the Patrizia residence of the Omodei family to the most recent transformations and uses. In this thesis, the restoration and recovery of architectural and artistic heritage, the environmental and territorial context in which Palazzo Omodei is located, the radical transformations of the urban fabric and the different role that the building assumes today in the urban development of Cusano is analyzed. Milanino. The historical and artistic value of the building is testified by the architectural profile and by the decorative apparatuses of the palace, the chapel and by how much it has been possible to reconstruct the vast articulated garden. Villa that today is of intense evocative power. Despite the devastation that power remains so strong as to allow us to fantasize about what the palace was, but above all it is, and can return to being. In the second part of the thesis it is also intended to evaluate the possibility of recovery and enhancement of the building taking into account the uses and the methods of intervention towards which it seems more appropriate to orientate for the purpose of a concrete redevelopment operation of the architectural complex.

Il recupero monumentale e funzionale di Palazzo Omodei, operazioni in cui è impegnata la amministrazione comunale di Cusano Milanino, esigeva un approccio di riconsiderazione storico-critica del manufatto, interessante testimonianza di architettura della villa suburbana del XVII secolo nel milanese, in un periodo storico dove si incrociano le influenze della dominazione spagnola, con la quale la famiglia Omodei ha stretti rapporti. Attraverso i parametri della ricerca architettonica si sono indagati gli aspetti storici, le peculiarità e i caratteri di palazzo Omodei oltre che le vicende legate alle diverse utilizzazioni dell’edificio, da residenza Patrizia della famiglia Omodei fino alle più recenti trasformazioni e destinazioni d’uso. In questa tesi, il restauro e il recupero dei beni architettonici ed artistici, viene analizzato il contesto ambientale e territoriale nel quale è collocato palazzo Omodei, le radicali trasformazioni del tessuto urbano e il diverso ruolo che oggi l’edificio assume nello sviluppo urbanistico di Cusano Milanino. Il valore storico e artistico del manufatto è testimoniato dal profilo architettonico e dagli apparati decorativi del palazzo, della cappella e da quanto si è potuto ricostruire del vasto articolato giardino. Villa che tutt’oggi è di intenso potere evocativo. Nonostante la devastazione quel potere permane così forte da consentirci di fantasticare su quello che il palazzo è stato, ma soprattutto è, e può tornare ad essere. Nella seconda parte della tesi si intende inoltre valutare la possibilità di recupero e di valorizzazione del manufatto tenendo conto delle destinazioni d’uso e delle modalità di intervento verso le quali pare più opportuno orientarsi ai fini di una concreta operazione di riqualificazione del complesso architettonico.
