This thesis is the result of a reflection focused on the actual role of the university which is in contrast with the original. The research starts from the desire to enhance the vision of the university as a place of personal and professional growth, recovering its historical roots keeping an eye on the future, setting higher objectives of social utility, wider than those that can be accounted for in short term, which limit today to an utilitarian vision that outlines it as a compulsory transition into the world of work. The objective of this project is to bring young people closer to university with deeper awareness, given the emerging statistical data in Italy that see fewer and fewer graduates who continue their university studies or enroll but interrupt the course. The first approach of this research was to discover the real users’s needs from different profiles, tracing a collection of insights through a series of individual interviews. The collection of information, insights and considerations introduced to a definition phase where the identified possibilities were given meaning and priority, through the elaboration of a first concept, which was the starting point for the next step, corresponding to the third divergent phase of the Double Diamond, a method adopted as a guideline for the entire design process.
Questa tesi nasce da una riflessione incentrata sul ruolo dell’università di oggi in contrasto con quello originario. La ricerca prende il via dalla volontà di valorizzare la visione dell’università intesa come luogo di crescita personale e professionale, recuperando le proprie radici storiche con lo sguardo rivolto al futuro, ponendosi obiettivi di utilità sociale più alti e più ampi di quelli contabilizzabili a breve termine, oggi limitati ad una visione utilitaristica che la delinea in parte come passaggio obbligatorio per entrare nel mondo del lavoro. L’obiettivo di questo progetto è quello di avvicinare i giovani al percorso universitario con maggiore consapevolezza, visti i dati statistici emergenti in Italia che vedono sempre meno diplomati che proseguono gli studi universitari o che si iscrivono ma ne interrompono il corso. Il primo approccio della presente ricerca, è stato quello di conoscere i reali bisogni degli utenti dai profili diversificati, tracciando una collezione di insights attraverso una serie di interviste individuali. La raccolta di informazioni, intuizioni e considerazioni ha introdotto ad una fase di definizione dove si è dato senso e priorità alle possibilità individuate, attraverso l’elaborazione di un primo concept, punto di partenza per il passaggio successivo, corrispondente alla terza fase divergente del Double Diamond, metodo adottato come linea guida dell’intero processo progettuale.
