Abstract

A journey between today and yesterday, to have a critical look of what is the biker jacket and how it evolved trough the years. The theme of this thesis switches its point of view form a jacket seen as a punk-rock and provocative piece, to a more gentle inspiration, based on soft materials and designers who have been masters in elaborating that kind of lightness, referring also to the world of ballet. So starting from an historical and aesthetic view we land to a more consumer-oriented approach, studying which are the brands who propose this kind of garment at different target markets. Of course, in treating this topic is nearly mandatory also ti talk about the leather and its production phases, but also giving an historical background, to let know all its features as one of the first materials the Prehistorical man used to get covered and for a lot of other purposes.
