Our thesis is about the comprehension of the renewal intervention of a district, the area of Porta Vittoria, a semi-central area of the city of Milan, starting from the re-functionalization of a brown field, the former slaughterhouse of Milan, one of the large areas of the city that generates an urban void close to the urban texture, which limits its development. The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate how the redevelopment of abandoned areas within a city can revitalize brownfield sites without consuming new soil. An analysis of the characteristics of the place and an accurate and in-depth study of the neighborhood and similar strategy already carried out in various parts of the world, led to the development of the project, supporting the validity of the initial hypothesis. The A.MA.MI cultural center wants to establish an osmotic relationship with the context in which it is inserted, aiming at the development of potentialities that are currently latent, and assigning a new role to the area. The functions established resume the productive vocation of the place through working spaces marked by the world of art and craftsmanship, thus meeting the current artistic vocation of the district. in a marriage between past and present that also comes close to the new market with the eno-gastronomic theme based on on-site production. The new cultural center opens to the city with public buildings and an urban park, that establish a constant dialogue with the city and the region. The functions and their development have been supported by a viewpoint of concreteness and feasibility of the project, according to reasoning and analytical studies for a possible realization. The work has started from the city's scale, in order to deepen some themes, developed consequently at an architectural level. This operation arises from the search for concreteness and feasibility of the realization of the project, which therefore aims to restore the identity and the vitality of the neighborhood.

Abstract
This operation arises from the search for concreteness and feasibility of the realization of the project, which therefore aims to restore the identity and the vitality of the neighborhood.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
