The project aims to demonstrate the potential of prestigious buildings abandoned in the city center, for their rebirth, for the connection with the urban fabric and for a regeneration of the neighborhood in which they are located. Starting from macro-scale studies about musical instrument production, Italy is one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality instruments. From the analysis we highlight two particularities of excellence in the peninsula: the district of Recanati, Osimo, Castelfidardo and the city of Cremona, the first for the production of electric instruments, the second for the violinmaking activity. Both are supported, in this excellence, by corporations that support the production or use the instruments for the musical composition. Analyzing the two cases, however, we note that Cremona presents a flaw in the supporting network to violinmaking: the Institute of Musical Studies Claudio Monteverdi, whose structure is completely inadequate for carrying out the activities. Following analysis also revealed a lack of housing for off-site students, and an impoverishment of commercial activities in the city. The intervention aims to solve these problems through the regeneration of abandoned complexes of the so-called Citadel of Religion (former convent of San Benedetto, Corpus Domini, cavallerizza and the afferent rustic) so far closed and impervious to the changes that have occurred in the city . Music would become the key to the opening of the block and the rebirth of the neighborhood. The permeability of the new Cittadella della Musica will give rise to the birth of new public and identifying spaces for the neighborhood, such as the auditorium and the park, as well as the recovery of two buildings that are fundamental for the history of the city. The project therefore highlights the growing desire to recover the city centers, to oppose decentralization and land consumption.

Abstract
The project therefore highlights the growing desire to recover the city centers, to oppose decentralization and land consumption.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
