Why this house? Why is it so important? For Aldo Rossi, the Vanna Venturi's House represents a point crystallized in time, a beacon distinguishable in a babel of experimentations and analogies, a liberation of what architecture has been up to that time and what could be from there on. Its variegated historical references, the use of symbols, colors and ornamentation during a period of almost universal acceptance of the orthodoxy of modernist design make the Vanna Venturi's House a small masterpiece that has helped to change both the definition of modern architecture that the conception of how a dwelling should appear. This thesis, which collects the drawings of the nine versions of the House found by Fredric Schwartz in the study of Robert Venturi in the '80s, promises to investigate for the first time the creative process (more or less conscious) that led the architect from the initial sketch to the final project. Starting from the biography of the author, the study of the historical cultural situation in which the work was born, and the analysis of similar cases was then possible, through the direct comparison of the nine versions of the house, reconstruct the common thread, the choices and possible external references that guided the designer through this creative process lasting more than 5 years and hundreds of drawings.

Abstract
Starting from the biography of the author, the study of the historical cultural situation in which the work was born, and the analysis of similar cases was then possible, through the direct comparison of the nine versions of the house, reconstruct the common thread, the choices and possible external references that guided the designer through this creative process lasting more than 5 years and hundreds of drawings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
