Global cities for everyone. Integration through public spaces and architecture

In the coming future the city changes its character and the population that it houses. The topic of this research takes the ever growing global cities, to house the new population, which is no longer from the same country or the same cultural background. The aim is to develop neighborhoods and cities that can correlate with the culture of origin but still retain the identity of the city. The problem of desegregation and having parts of the city only for the migrants is part of the problem that this thesis researches. The methodology used is research of migration and population data, research on country of origins traditional city, architecture and urban plans, reinterpretation of the architecture in today’s context and in the context of the existing city. The result is new neighborhood that has mixed used and is characterized by the use of architectural elements of the country of origin of the immigrants mixed together in one coherent block. It creates space for everyone to live and enjoy, but also everyone to slightly feel the presence of their culture in the city where they live. The end result should create the new global cities that can integrate easily and cities that give feel of the new citizens that they are respected and can correlate to the city better. It will create a true global city, where the diversity of the city’s population will be reflected in its urban matrix and in the architecture of the city.

Nel prossimo futuro la città cambierà il suo carattere e la popolazione che ospita. Il tema di questa ricerca prende le città globali in continua crescita, per ospitare la nuova popolazione, che non è più la stessa nazione o lo stesso background culturale. L'obiettivo è quello di sviluppare quartieri e città che possano essere correlati con la cultura di origine, mantenendo tuttavia l'identità della città. Il problema della desegregazione e di avere parti della città solo per i migranti è parte del problema che questa tesi ricerca. La metodologia utilizzata è la ricerca di dati sulle migrazioni e sulla popolazione, la ricerca sul paese di origine, la città tradizionale, l'architettura e i piani urbani, la reinterpretazione dell'architettura nel contesto odierno e nel contesto della città esistente. Il risultato è un nuovo quartiere che ha mescolato usato ed è caratterizzato dall'uso di elementi architettonici del paese di origine degli immigrati mescolati insieme in un blocco coerente. Crea spazio per tutti per vivere e divertirsi, ma anche per tutti sentire leggermente la presenza della propria cultura nella città in cui vivono. Il risultato finale dovrebbe creare le nuove città globali che possano integrarsi facilmente e le città che danno la sensazione dei nuovi cittadini di essere rispettate e in grado di correlare meglio la città. Creerà una vera città globale, dove la diversità della popolazione della città si rifletterà nella sua matrice urbana e nell'architettura della città.
