Czech warehouse. Warehouse of ideas

Without the Industrial Revolution imagining the modern world and its way of functioning is rather impossible.Therefore it is of great importance to emphasize the significance of industrial heritage and find its place in contemporary times. Reactivation of industrial heritage in the region of South-East Europe is not on a satisfactory level and unfortunately as a result there are numbers of abandoned and derelict industrial buildings which have great potential. Among them is the Czech warehouse, one of the most important examples of industrial heritage in Novi Sad. Luckily, in December 2016 the city was elected as the European Capital of Youth 2021, where the Czech Warehouse and its surroundings were rated as extremely good for purposes of creative district and youth entrepreneurship. These new conditions offered a trace of hope that the building has finally gotten its chance for revival and inspired new ideas for its future use. As a subject of this thesis, the new solution sees the Warehouse as a new creative incubator - a place that would represent a link between knowledge and ideas and a world of entrepreneurship with the ultimate goal of transforming the Czech Warehouse into the “Warehouse of ideas”.

Senza la rivoluzione industriale immaginare il mondo moderno e il suo modo di funzionare è piuttosto impossibile. Pertanto è di grande importanza sottolineare il significato del patrimonio industriale e trovare il suo posto nell'epoca contemporanea. La riattivazione del patrimonio industriale nella regione dell'Europa Sud-Est non è soddisfacente e, sfortunatamente ci sono tanti edifici industriali abbandonati. Tra questi c'è il Magazzino Ceco, uno dei più importanti esempi di patrimonio industriale a Novi Sad. Fortunatamente, nel dicembre 2016 la città è stata eletta Capitale europea della gioventù nel 2021, dove il Magazzino Ceco e il ambiente che lo circonda sono stati giudicati estremamente validi . Queste nuove condizioni offrivano una traccia di speranza che l'edificio ha finalmente ricevuto la possibilità di rinascere e hanno ispirato nuove idee per il suo futuro uso. Facendo parte di questa tesi, la nuova soluzione vede il magazzino come un nuovo incubatore creativo - un luogo che rappresenterebbe un legame tra conoscenza e idee e un mondo di imprenditorialità con l'obiettivo finale di trasformare il Magazzino Ceco nel “Magazzino di Idee”.
