Upgrading Renesso. Institute for food production and bio-diversity

This project contains two parts: Survey and Design proposal. The survey is fundamental basis of the project. Within this first part, we have examined the properties of the Renesso colony and its surrounding. Our survey is a collection of detailed technical drawings, specific details, decay study and photography. The trip to Renesso, Savignone not only helped to gather these information, but also contributed to the creation of the idea for our project. From the stories of the locals we have found out that Savignone had food products which are specific in this region, but due to different reasons, their growth and production stopped. These stories and the potential of the natural surrounding that Renesso has, were the key factors to create an Institute for food production and bio-diversity (IPB). In this project we would merge the preservation of Savignone’s modern ruins and the preservation of Savignone’s typical local food products. Renesso colony would host the flora, and Montemaggio the fauna related food products. IPB Renesso would become institute which hosts activities like small production, bio-diversity research, food education and tasting. The visitors (agriculture students, tourists) here can buy or taste recipes from products like wine, beer, rose jam and syrup, potato quarantine, mushroom and tomato. The tower as the most noticeable element of the building, would become extended and will host a Museum as a memory of the primary historic function of the building. Also the facility would offer accommodation in the existing guest house for the all the users of the Institute.

Questo progetto contiene due parti: Survey e Proposta di design. Il Survey è la base fondamentale del progetto. In questa prima parte, abbiamo esaminato le proprietà della colonia Renesso i suoi dintorni. La nostra Survey è una raccolta di disegni tecnici dettagliati, dettagli specifici, studio di decadimento e fotografia. Il viaggio a Renesso, Savignone non solo ha contribuito a raccogliere queste informazioni, ma ha anche contribuito alla creazione dell'idea per il nostro progetto. Dalle storie dei locali abbiamo scoperto che Savignone aveva prodotti alimentari specifici in questa regione, ma a causa di ragioni diverse, la loro crescita e produzione si ferma. Queste storie e le potenzialità dell'ambiente naturale che Renesso ha, sono stati i fattori chiave per creare un Istituto per la produzione alimentare e la biodiversità (IPB). In questo progetto vorremmo fondere la conservazione delle moderne rovine di Savignone e la conservazione dei prodotti tipici locali di Savignone. La colonia Renesso avrebbe ospitato la flora e Montemaggio i prodotti alimentari legati alla fauna. IPB Renesso diventerebbe un istituto che ospita attività come la produzione di piccole dimensioni, la ricerca sulla biodiversità, l'educazione alimentare e la degustazione. I visitatori (studenti di agricoltura, turisti) qui possono acquistare o gustare ricette di prodotti come vino, birra, marmellata di rose e sciroppo, quarantena di patate, funghi e pomodori. La torre come elemento più evidente dell'edificio, si estenderebbe e ospiterà un museo come memoria della funzione storica primaria dell'edificio. Anche la struttura offrirebbe alloggio nella guest house esistente per tutti gli utenti dell'Istituto.
