Colonia di Montemaggio

Starting with the analysis of the movement of people that happens all around the world, we want to do some considerations about the role of architecture and the possibilities that we can suggest for those people who are affected by any kind of migration, trying to mitigate the socio-cultural problems that can occur when different cultures meet . With this project we are thinking and proposing the reuse of an abandoned and deteriorated building that, in the past, represented part of the cultural heritage of Italy : the Colony of Montemaggio. We have redefined its initial concept and brought a new social definition according to the possibilities and the necessities of the problem of migration, proposing finally a place to host people where they might have a socio-cultural exchange. In this way there might be the possibility to have a more adequate way to connect different cultures , giving them the necessary time to adapt to the new reality.

Partendo dall'analisi del flusso migratorio che si sta verificando in tutto il mondo, vogliamo fare alcune considerazioni in merito al ruolo dell'architettura e delle possibilità che si possono suggerire a favore delle persone che sono coinvolte in situazioni di migrazione, cercando di mitigare i problemi socio-culturali che le diverse culture possono incontrare. Con questo progetto abbiamo pensato come riutilizzare un edificio abbandonato e deteriorato che, in passato, ha rappresentato una parte significativa del patrimonio italiano: la colonia di Montemaggio. Abbiamo ridefinito la sua iniziale concezione e apportato una nuova definizione sociale, seguendo possibilità e necessità relative al problema migratorio, suggerendo infine un luogo in cui ospitare le persone, nel quale esse possano avere uno scambio anche di tipo socio-culturale. In questo modo ci potrebbe essere una maggiore integrazione e connessione fra le diverse culture, dando loro il tempo e il luogo necessario per adattarsi alla nuova realtà.
