In the last years, especially in Italy, the main challenge of architecture has been focused in giving a new life to forgotten and decadent buildings, aiming at increasing the services in favour of citizens. Reducing architectural barriers and renovating empty urban spaces, coming from the former industrial framework which constituted the suburbs of the cities and became, time after time, part of them, was the chance to realize interesting projects within several cities. The concept of the reconversion and enhancement of the industrial archaeological heritage in Italy represents the main theme which inspired our project concerning the “caserma Mercanti di Milano”. Our purpose is to enhance the relationship between the block, the neighborhood and the city, by extinguishing boundaries which interrupt the incoming innovational stream, characterizing, especially in the last years, the Lambrate district with cultural events like the “Design Week”. In this respect, redevelopment and reconnection become the main features of our project, not merely by functional replacements, but especially by recomposing urban relationships among buildings and open spaces. The project, thus, follows the latest demands of the surrounding and offers the cities a new green and pulsing heart, with the purpose to encourage technological development.

Abstract
The project, thus, follows the latest demands of the surrounding and offers the cities a new green and pulsing heart, with the purpose to encourage technological development.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
