The speed of introduction and change of digital technologies have increased rapidly in recent years. One of the emerging technologies is undoubtedly Artificial Intelligence, which is increasingly becoming a field of study and investment for companies. Although the technology can be complex, the idea is very simple: to develop machines with autonomous learning and adaptation abilities that are inspired by human learning models, able to adapt to the surrounding context and to pursue a result autonomously. The application fields are innumerable and many of these could have important impacts on the activities of companies and public administrations as well as changing the lives of people. Because of its nature characterized by high data and information exchange, supply chain management is certainly an important area in which Artificial Intelligence has started to be applied. To ensure the efficiency of supply chains, it is vital to implement systems that allow all parts of the network to be connected in a safe and reliable way. In this context, the use of Artificial Intelligence can increase forecast accuracy, productivity and customer satisfaction, and can reduce inventory levels, transportation costs and delivery times by helping to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organizations. This research aims to define the concept of Artificial Intelligence, identify applications to the supply chain and study opportunities and threats in the introduction of technology. The methodology followed is divided into three macro phases: (i) literature analysis, fundamental for understanding the theoretical background of the topic; (ii) empirical analysis, conducted with a census of demand and supply side cases and some interviews (iii) analysis of the results aimed at giving some guidelines for companies interested in evaluating this technology.

Abstract
The methodology followed is divided into three macro phases: (i) literature analysis, fundamental for understanding the theoretical background of the topic; (ii) empirical analysis, conducted with a census of demand and supply side cases and some interviews (iii) analysis of the results aimed at giving some guidelines for companies interested in evaluating this technology.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
