Over the past twenty years, the global market for power systems based on organic Rankine cycles (ORCs) has undergone significant growth. The reasons for this boost are based on the rising energy costs and on the growing environmental concerns arising from global warming, resource consumption and air pollution. Unlike other sectors of electricity production, the nature of the ORC sector is dynamic and extremely variegated. Many ORC plant manufacturers have recently joined the market, proposing different technologies and plant solutions. The technology itself is extremely flexible and can be applied to a number of energy sources, which is why organic fluid systems are used in so many fields. The plant sizes are extremely variable, ranging from plants with power under one kW for domestic micro-cogeneration and for thermal recovery on cars, to large plants with tens of MW for geothermal applications and industrial heat recovery. In such a complex landscape, this thesis aims to provide a general framework for the development of the global ORC market, technological solutions, companies and products available in the market.

Abstract
In such a complex landscape, this thesis aims to provide a general framework for the development of the global ORC market, technological solutions, companies and products available in the market.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
