The building sector significantly impacts on the environment during every stage of the building life cycle. The necessary transition towards a carbon-neutral society is driving a growing attention towards the refurbishment of old buildings, fostering intervention measures with the objective of reducing operational energy consumption In seismic prone areas the vulnerability of existing buildings, not designed according to modern building codes, could hamper the efficiency of the solely energy refurbishment, besides representing a safety hazard. The present thesis investigates the possibility of combination of structural and energy retrofit to an existing building and especially the possibility of integrating thermal insulation to the seismic intervention planned for the existing building.
Il settore delle costruzioni ha un impatto significativo sull’ambiente in ogni fase del ciclo di vita dell’edificio. La transizione necessaria verso una società carbon-free sta portando un’attenzione crescente alla ristrutturazione di vecchi edifici, promuovendo misure ed interventi con l’obiettivo di ridurre la consumazione dell’energia primaria. Nelle aree a rischio sismico, la vulnerabilità degli edifici esistenti, non progettati secondo i codici costruttivi moderni, potrebbe rendere vano il miglioramento dato della sola ristrutturazione energetica, oltre a rappresentare un rischio per la sicurezza. La presente tesi investiga la possibilità di combinare il restauro strutturale ed energetico di un edificio esistente ed in particolar modo la possibilità d’integrare l’isolamento termico all’intervento ai fini sismici.
