Castellon de la Plana : el Cremor. Centro sportivo lungo il Rio Seco

The project, started during the academic year spent in Valencia under the supervision of Prof. Jaime Prior y Llobart, set as its objective the reflection on a concrete theme: the realization of a master plan in the area of ​​the “Cremor” of Castellon de la Plana that managed to improve the neighborhood and its relationship with the city, with an interesting focus on the social aspect of design. The area in question is between the new North Station to the east, the university district and the Rio Seco to the west, Avd. De Alcora to the south and the tram axis to the north. The project takes into account the prevision of the PGOU (Plan General de Ordenacion Urbana) of the Municipality of Castellòn de la Plana and therefore also the possibility of demolishing buildings considered of low architectural value to build new ones. The work carried out during the second semester of last year, included the creation of a temporary house for immigrants; the choice to develop this theme derives from an explicit request for functions and services from the Municipality. In Castellòn there is another number of immigrants that is around 17% of the population, which has a strong contemporary sensitivity towards this issue. The city is in fact a member of the “Intercultural cities” program with excellent results on the integration between foreigners and natives. For these reasons, I decided to develop the thesis work by proposing a sports center including a education school for immigrants. The program includes a football field, two basketball and volleyball courts, a tennis court, locker rooms, offices, six teaching rooms, four professional workshop classrooms, study spaces, exhibition space and a cafeteria. Furthermore, according to the PGOU prevision, the redevelopment of the space on the southern bank of the Rio Seco is proposed with a large park that reflects and completes the one already present on the north bank.

Il progetto, iniziato durante l’anno accademico svolto a Valencia sotto la supervisione del Prof. Jaime Prior y Llobart, poneva come obbiettivo la riflessione su un tema concreto: la realizzazione di un masterplan nella zona del “Cremor” di Castellon de la Plana che riuscisse a migliorare il quartiere e la sua relazione con la città, con un focus interessante sull’aspetto sociale della progettazione. L’ area in oggetto è compresa tra la nuova Stazione Nord a est, il quartiere universitario e il Rio Seco a ovest, Avd. de Alcora a sud e l’asse del tram a nord. Il progetto tiene conto delle previsioni del PGOU (Plan General de Ordenacion Urbana) del Comune di Castellòn de la Plana e quindi anche della possibilità di demolizione di edifici ritenuti di basso valore architettonico per costruirne di nuovi. Il lavoro svolto durante il secondo semestre dello scorso anno, prevedeva la realizzazione di un centro accoglienza per immigrati; la scelta di sviluppare questo tema derivava da una richiesta esplicita di funzioni e servizi da parte del Comune. A Castellòn si registra un altro numero di immigrati che si aggira intorno al 17% della popolazione, fatto che nutre una forte sensibilità contemporanea nei confronti di questo tema. La città risulta infatti membro del programma “Ciudades Interculturales” con ottimi risultati in merito alla integrazione tra stranieri e autoctoni. Per queste ragioni, ho deciso di sviluppare il lavoro di tesi di Laurea proponendo un centro sportivo comprendente una scuola di formazione per immigrati. Il programma prevede un campo da calcio, due campi da basket e pallavolo, uno da tennis, spogliatoi, uffici, sei aule didattiche, quattro laboratori di formazione professionale, spazi studio, spazio espositivo e caffetteria. Inoltre, conformemente alle previsioni del PGOU, si propone la riqualificazione dello spazio sulla sponda sud del Rio Seco con un grande parco che riflette e completa quello già presente sulla sponda nord.
