Scholars consider Aldo Andreani (1887-1971) one of the most influencing architects in Mantua in the first half of the XXth century. His architectures are mainly located between the city of birth and Milan over a period of about fifty years; his style developed between the late eclecticism and the rationalism, typical of the regime. The activity over existing constructions began with "artistic" projects, often so reinvented to be considered on the verge of ex novo. About the intervention on monuments distinguished by historical dignity, in the first phase his approach was similar to Viollet-Le-Duc’s school and the "stylistic restoration" and then diverted to a more conservative and less interpretive direction. The relationship with the past becomes more and more important in Mantua, where Andreani grew up studying every stone, and where even today this theme echoes through the streets of the city. The thesis aims to develop this concept and to clarify Andreani’s approach over construction on historical buildings.

Abstract
The thesis aims to develop this concept and to clarify Andreani’s approach over construction on historical buildings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
