D.I.M.A - Distretto Italiano Mestieri Artigianali - Italian Artisanal Crafts District "District", a word that indicates a whole reality, more precisely that socio-economic reality that guided the Made-in-Italy craft market before the introduction of the Euro, which was followed by consequences that gradually affected the essence itself of these realities. The value of craftsmanship is not limited to the evaluation of the final product alone, but it captures and emphasizes the creative and personal process that is behind the scenes. This is where the talent, the commitment, the history, the personal experiences of people, families or entire generations, reside. These individuals, through the constant improvement of traditional techniques and savoir-faire, are living samples of pure Italian culture. Villa Arconati is a striking example of this "value of the process" idea, since it is an architectural product that was born from the passions and the stories of the Arconati's who have lived there over time. They made additions and changes to the structure that tell much of the history and art of the time. D.I.M.A. is an institution that is born inside the villa, with the aim to transform it into the home of artisanal districts. The primary objectives of D.I.M.A. are the production of high value items, the education to beauty and to the processes behind the products, the active support to the most diverse craft enterprises from in and out Lombardy, through collaboration with state and private entities, as well as partnerships with brands and companies. D.I.M.A. is divided spatially into three macro-districts, on which specific activities are carried out: research and restoration, manufacture and cultivation. The work of the districts leads to the nerve center of the villa, where they meet the public through sales, exhibitions, guides, catering. The entire site is always open to visitors, and is equipped with specific transports for all the types of public. The presentation that follows, illustrates in detail two of the numerous processes that take place inside the villa: the Exhibition process, a system made of structure, people and activities, which are meant to enhance the value of the italian makers' savoir-faire; and the food process, the so-called "Promenade" which aims to offer a deep and authentic gastronomic experience.
D.I.M.A. D.I.M.A.
