In the recent society, the growing heavy work tasks occupy a majority property of free time in daily life, thus affecting their taking good care of their dogs and staying close emotional connection while working in the office. In our society, the life-style of people is increasingly busier with working tasks that occupy most of their free time. For those who have a pet living with them in their apartments this means letting their pet experiencing long hours of solitude. Both the owner and the pet suffer this distance. Thus, this thesis is about the relationship between dog owners and their dogs, especially when the first in away and the dog is home alone. The aim is to design a smart product that could enhance this relationship when they are apart from each other. Indeed, the feedback from my survey reveals that the user has a very strong need for emotional communication with the dog, so I hope to design a product that can keep the emotional communication with the dog, when the owner is not at home. Analyses of the existed dog product in the market has suggested that at present, no company on the market is doing related smart products, only one is a composite smart pet box which Samsung is doing for integrated functions. However, there is no specific design for the emotional needs of dogs. In order to achieve this target, I realized that I need to have a deep understanding of the owner's schedule and potential emotional needs, and to create a creative design for this requirement. So I started my research from the user’s need and then I developed a design concept up to its design definition.
Nella società moderna, il carico sempre più pesente del lavoro occupa la maggior parte del tempo libero nella vita quotidiana. Di conseguenza, questa tendenza ha influenzato in modo negativo il rapporto sentimentale tra gli impiegati che lavorano in ufficio e il loro cane domestico. Nella società d'oggi, le persone sono sempre più occupate e il lavoro porta via la maggior parte del loro tempo. Per le persone che hanno degli animali domestici nel proprio appartamento, questo significa lasciarli soli per un lungo periodo di tempo durante la giornata. Entrambi i padroni e gli animali sono frustrati da questa distanza. Pertanto, questo studio indaga il rapporto tra il cane e il loro padrone soprattutto per i momenti quando l'animale si trova a casa e il padrone fuori. Lo scopo ultimo di questa tesi è quello di inventare un prodotto tecnologico che possa accorciare la distanza sentimentale tra i due quando sono distanti. In realtà, secondo alcune ricerche, i consumatori esprimono un forte desiderio di scambi sentimentali con il proprio cane quando sono al lavoro. Perciò vorrei disegnare un prodotto che permette al padrone di mantenere la comunicazione emotiva con il proprio cane quando sono distanti. Secondo le analisi condotti sui prodotti per il cane, nel mercato attuale, non esiste ancora un'azienda che produce prodotti simili, eccetto il Samsung che ha creato una cuccia iper-tecnologica. Tuttavia non esiste ancora un prodotto per i bisogni sentimentali. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, ho la necessità di indagare innanzitutto l'agenda e il bisogno emotivo dell'utente e poi fornire una soluzione creativo a seconda dei bisogni. Di conseguenza la mia ricerca parte proprio dai bisogni degli utenti per poi proporre disegni e soluzioni basato sulla definizione iniziale del design.
