In the context of an internship in Pirelli & C. S.p.A., this thesis work revolves around the implementation in an industrial environment of a platform for the generation of digital procedures for maintainers’ activities, with the aid of Mixed Reality technology and head-mounted display devices. The conventional Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) tool for knowledge transfer and standardization is so replaced by an Augmented SOP, that enhances the instructions delivered to operators, displaying the right information where and when needed, in step-by-step approach. The observations reported in this dissertation are extracted from the activities carried on during the prototype project launched by the Company with the software provider and finalized at the evaluation of the solution proposed. The goal of the proof of concept was then achieved in two points: i) testing the user visualizations enabled by the provided solution, together with the technical limitations of the technology; ii) evaluating the easiness of the authoring process of digital procedures. The experience gained through the work has constituted the starting point for the main contribution of this study: a model of the standard realization process for an Augmented SOP in all the required activities. By itself, it is worth remarking that the realization sequence is time-consuming; thus, the approach to each of the stages determines the feasibility of the solution in industrial contexts. To this end, an easy authoring is a fundamental task, and it has to be supported with clear guidelines for all the other stages of the process. The thesis also defines the architecture behind the Augmented SOP platform in the roles inherent to the solution, clearing out interests and interactions. Moreover, a number of templates has been created for the rationalization and fast forwarding of the critical data of the various phases of the realization process. Last but not least, the dissertation concludes with a proposal of future developments for the systematic adoption of the platform in all plants, with the aim of reinforcing Mixed Reality, through the integration of the solution within the Company information systems.

Abstract
Last but not least, the dissertation concludes with a proposal of future developments for the systematic adoption of the platform in all plants, with the aim of reinforcing Mixed Reality, through the integration of the solution within the Company information systems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
