THE THESIS CONSISTS IN THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF CORONARY PLAQUES FROM HUMAN DONORS. THE WORK IS DIVIDED IN DIFFERENT PARTS. CORONARY SAMPLES ARE PREPARED, THEN THE INFLATION TEST IS PERFORMED AND PLAQUE RUPTURE IS DETECTED WITH IMAGING MODALITIES. PLAQUE MORPHOLOGIES AND MATERIALS ARE IDENTIFIED WITH MRI AND MICRO-CT SCANNING. FINALLY, AN INVERSE FINITE ELEMENT PROBLEM IS SOLVED TO ESTIMATE PLAQUE MATERIALS PROPERTIES.
LA TESI CONSISTE NELLA CARATTERIZZAZIONE MECCANICA DI PLACCHE CORONARICHE PROVENIENTI DA DONATORI UMANI. IL LAVORO E' DIVISO IN DIVERSE PARTI. I CAMPIONI CORONARICI SONO PREPARATI, SUCCESSIVAMENTE VIENE ESEGUITO L'INFLATION TEST E LA ROTTURA DELLE PLACCHE E' DETETTATA DA DIFFERENTI TECNICHE DI IMMAGINI. LE MORFOLOGIE E I MATERIALI DELLE PLACCHE SONO IDENTIFICATI MEDIANTE MRI E MICRO-CT. INFINE VIENE RISOLTO IL METODO INVERSO AD ELEMENTI FINITI PER LA STIMA DELLE PROPRIETA' DEI MATERIALI DELLA PLACCA.
