The topic of my thesis is about the project called "Portfolio Distribution", developed during my six-month full-time internship at FactSet, whose aim is to collect data from third-party portfolio managers and provide them to a major insurance client. In particular, it is about collecting and processing, on a quarterly basis, data relating to the underlying assets of the investment funds indicated by the client for portfolio choices. In the last processing run more than 250 funds were processed, and more than 50 asset managers were contacted. In the first phase I had to relate to the client to define their needs as well as to the various asset managers to agree/decide on the modalities of data exchange. I subsequently implemented a VBA code for the automatic management of emails. Then I wrote specific VBA codes, which could dialogue with the company software, for the processing and management of the data received so as to extrapolate the information to be transmitted to the client. Through simple maintenance operations, the codes can be adapted to the client's quarterly requests and can be used for other prospective clients. Due to the characteristics of the work to be done, the knowledge and skills acquired in my course of study were essential since it was necessary to combine financial knowledge with programming skills. In fact, due to the amount of the information processed, the automation of the entire process has been decisive, allowing the feasibility of the same, obtaining precision in the data as well as eliminating potential errors, transparency, respect of the agreed timing and reduction of work for the team. Furthermore, having a sound knowledge of the characteristics of the various financial instruments and notions of the SOLVENCY II legislation has proved fundamental in both the relationship with the client and with the asset managers as well as for the realization of the project. As confirmed by FactSet, the project I developed is of great importance in maintaining the relationship with their client and of significant commercial value.

Abstract
As confirmed by FactSet, the project I developed is of great importance in maintaining the relationship with their client and of significant commercial value.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
