Urban mobility turns out to be a constantly evolving field: by now there are many vehicles and services designed to facilitate trips within the city available on the market. Electric kick scooters result to be easily transportable because of their firmness and they are excellent for the drive to and from work. Furthermore, the lack of carbon emissions benefits sustainability, which is becoming an ever more important factor in a city. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is to design an electric kick scooter that is aesthetically pleasing and extremely functional for the urban commuting. The main features considered during the design of the vehicle have been: the weight and volume reduction and the performance optimisation in terms of speed and battery life. Thanks to these characteristics, it appears to be easily transportable also on public transports and very useful to fill walk distances. This type of vehicle includes a larger portion of the market compared to traditional scooters or light quadricycles, as it does not require any driving licence nor insurance cover and because of the low maintenance costs. Thanks also to its strong aesthetic personality, it intends to get ahead into a sector that, to this day, is still confined to a restricted circle of customers, since most them favours much bulkier and established vehicles like bicycles and traditional scooters.
La mobilità urbana risulta essere un settore in continua evoluzione: sono ormai presenti sul mercato una grande quantità di veicoli e servizi pensati per facilitare gli spostamenti in città. I kick scooter elettrici, per la loro compattezza, risultano facilmente trasportabili e ottimi per il tragitto casa-lavoro. Inoltre, l’assenza di emissioni di carbonio favorisce la sostenibilità, fattore sempre più importante in un contesto cittadino. L’obiettivo di questa tesi è quindi quello di progettare un kick scooter elettrico, appetibile dal punto di vista estetico ed estremamente funzionale al commuting urbano. Le principali caratteristiche considerate durante la progettazione del veicolo sono state: la riduzione del peso e del volume e l’ottimizzazione delle prestazioni in termini di velocità e durata della batteria. Grazie a tali caratteristiche risulta facilmente trasportabile anche su mezzi pubblici e molto utile nel colmare distanze solitamente percorse a piedi. Questa tipologia di veicolo comprende una porzione più ampia di mercato rispetto agli scooter tradizionali o ai quadricicli leggeri, non necessitando né di patente di guida né di copertura assicurativa e avendo costi di manutenzione contenuti. Anche grazie alla sua forte personalità estetica, intende farsi strada in un settore che ancora oggi rimane confinato ad una ristretta cerchia di utenti, in quanto la maggioranza di essi predilige mezzi più ingombranti e affermati come biciclette o scooter tradizionali.
