Vuoto e reperto. Innesto urbano tra due complessità

The thesis wants to investigate an essential theme in the world of architecture: the empty. A theme so enormous and complex that in these pages tries to be analyzed in its urban dimension: the void seen as a space in the city, sometimes identified as public space. Starting from a research on urban vacuum through the analysis of five approaches, through architects and artists who have dedicated a large part of their work to the study of this topic. A project proposal to resolve the abandonment of such an interesting area located in the historical center of the city of Verona. The improvement of the Roman ruins found in the basement, through the emptiness and the composition, becomes the generation of the project, around which everything takes place. The reuse through the function of hotel, bar, restaurant and exhibition center, brings functions and attentions to the area; through the materials of the place, the facade studies and the narrative of this area, there is a process of urban regeneration deeply linked to the genius loci with a constant relationship between the generated vacuum and the plenty generator.

La tesi vuole indagare un tema essenziale nel mondo dell’architettura: il vuoto. Un tema cosi ampio e complesso che in queste pagine prova a essere analizzato nella sua dimensione urbana: il vuoto visto come spazio della città, talvolta identificato come spazio pubblico. Partendo da una ricerca teorica sul vuoto urbano attraverso l’analisi di cinque approcci ad esso, tramite architetti e artisti che hanno dedicato gran parte del loro lavoro allo studio di questo argomento. Una proposta progettuale dunque atta a risolvere lo stato di decadenza e abbandono di un’area così interessante ubicata nel centro storico della città di Verona. La rivalorizzazione dei resti romani trovati nel piano interrato, tramite il vuoto e la composizione di esso, diventa centro generatore del progetto, attorno al quale si svolge tutto. Il riuso tramite la funzione di hotel, bar, ristorante e centro espositivo, riporta funzione e attenzione all’area; tramite i materiali del luogo, gli studi di facciata e la narrativa del luogo, vi è un processo di rigenerazione urbana profondamente legato al genius loci con un rapporto costante tra il vuoto generato ed il pieno generatore.
