Riscoprire spazi veri

The project deals with the redevelopment of the Sant'Anna district in Verbania, a flat area along the shore of Lake Maggiore, located between Intra and Pallanza. It is a place that over the centuries has maintained a balance between agricultural and industrial activities, until the creation of the town plan in 1939, whose goal was the creation of the city of Verbania, and which involved the construction of area to make it uniform to the rest of the city. The aim of the thesis project is to redevelop this piece of the city, enhancing its intrinsic potential, such as its natural tourist vocation given by the presence of the lake and the historic villas on the promontory of Castagnola. A large green lawn has been designed between the Sant'Anna district and the Castagnola, which is thought of as the arrival of the routes from Suna and Pallanza: it is a place where the different protagonists of the territory are involved, including the gardens of Villa Taranto located to the south of the green space, the lake to the west, and the district of Sant'Anna to the north. The proximity of many local nurseries, has led to the design of a building intended for a greenhouse that relates to the gardens of Villa Taranto and which provides permanent and temporary exhibition spaces related to the theme of floriculture. With reference to the Sant'Anna district, in which there are numerous schools, a building was designed in which there are, on one side, large spaces for students (study rooms, conferences, etc ...), and from the other side, a series of rooms designed as temporary accommodation for students and tourists.

Il progetto affronta il tema della riqualificazione del quartiere Sant’Anna a Verbania, un’area pianeggiante lungo la riva del Lago Maggiore, posta tra Intra e Pallanza. Si tratta di un luogo che nel corso dei secoli ha mantenuto un equilibrio tra le attività agricole e quelle industriali, fino alla data di creazione del piano regolatore nel 1939, il cui obiettivo era la creazione della città di Verbania, e che prevedeva l’edificazione dell’area per uniformarla al resto della città. L’obiettivo del progetto di tesi è quello di riqualificare questo brano di città, valorizzandone le potenzialità intrinseche, come ad esempio la sua naturale vocazione turistica data dalla presenza del lago e delle ville storiche sul promontorio della castagnola. E’ stato progettato un grande prato verde tra il quartiere Sant’Anna e la castagnola, che è pensato come arrivo dei percorsi da Suna e Pallanza: esso è un luogo in cui vengono coinvolti i diversi protagonisti del territorio, tra cui i giardini di villa Taranto situati a sud dello spazio verde, il lago a ovest, e il quartiere di sant’Anna a nord. La vicinanza di numerose aziende vivaistiche locali, ha portato alla progettazione di un edificio destinato a serra che si relaziona con i giardini di villa Taranto e che prevede degli spazi espositivi, sia permanenti che temporanei, legati al tema della floricoltura. Con riferimento al quartiere Sant’Anna, in cui sono presenti numerose scuole, è stato progettato un edificio all’interno del quale sono presenti, da una parte, ampi spazi rivolti agli studenti (sale studio, conferenze, ecc...), e dall’atra, una serie di camere pensate come alloggi temporanei rivolti a studenti e turisti.
