Il sistema delle acque urbane di Concepcion. Una proposta di riqualificazione

Why should we address the issue of urban water? The choice is based on the fact we need to preserve this natural element, which contrasts with the definition of a “city”. By considering this crucially important topic, this thesis aims to define the guidelines for the redevelopment of the areas adjacent to the water resources located in the district of the Chilean city, Concepción. The city lends itself well to this improvement proposal given that it is part of the administrative area of the Republic of Chile, which is famous for its numerous vast natural areas. The main objective of this thesis is to add value to and connect the river basins within the city by means of a strategic urban project. Within the thesis, there is deep analysis of the Biobío River’s waterfront, which Concepción overlookeds, and further investigation into the inter-lagoon system within the Northern part of the city. In order to achieve the thesis outcome, it was deemed necessary to consult case studies, which forecasted recovery projects for the water-city relationship, and to examine the realization of urban analyses on the municipal territory of Concepción.

Perché porsi il problema delle acque urbane? La scelta ha origine dall’esigenza di preservare questo elemento naturale, che si contrappone alla città fin a partire dalla sua definizione. Considerando questo tema di vitale importanza, la tesi mira a definire le linee guida per la riqualificazione delle aree adiacenti alle risorse idriche situate nel territorio della città cilena di Concepción. La città ben si presta a questa proposta migliorativa in quanto rientra nel territorio amministrativo della Repubblica del Cile famoso proprio per la presenza, al suo interno, di numerose e vaste aree naturali. La tesi si pone come obiettivo quello di valorizzare e connettere, attraverso un progetto urbano strategico, i bacini idrografici presenti all’interno della città con un approfondimento ulteriore sul waterfront del fiume BioBio, sul quale Concepción si affaccia, e sul sistema inter lagunare presente all’interno della area nord della città. Per raggiungere questo risultato si è ritenuto necessario procedere ad una consultazione di casi studio, che prevedevano progetti di recupero del rapporto acqua-città, e alla realizzazione di analisi urbanistiche sul territorio comunale di Concepción.
