With the recent reform “la Buona Scuola”, the Italian school system has known the introduction of the 21st century skills (STEAM), a package of skills required by contemporary society that are not planned in the traditional method. For the development of these skills, however, new spaces are needed, suitable for experimentation and collaboration: this is why the reform has provided for the creation of the “Atelier Creativo”, a place where students can encourage imagination, creativity and collaboration. Group activities are increasingly important, as they are fundamental for the development of skills. Today, the schools participating in the call for tenders focus solely on the purchase of tools and not on the planning of space, forgetting the importance this one has. The current learning spaces are therefore unsuitable and ineffective, and can not back up the proper performance of the activities. Thus, it becomes necessary to redesign and optimize the work environment in a more functional way. The research here carried out aims to reconsider learning environments as fluid bodies able to meet operational needs and accommodate multiple activities at the same time, involving different types of students. To allow a wider use, a set of versatile and easy-to-build furniture has been created, which can quickly be transformed according to the work to be carried out and fit into existing environments, overcoming any constraints. The Atelier Creativo here proposed is a complex project that consists of different phases. Great importance is given to the participation of schools in the creation of space, with the desire to make the educational environment, often considered a hostile place, a familiar and pleasant place. With the two workshops conceived, students have the possibility to customize and decorate all the furnishing components proposed, and through a game they can approach spatial design, becoming an active part in the creation of space.

Abstract
With the two workshops conceived, students have the possibility to customize and decorate all the furnishing components proposed, and through a game they can approach spatial design, becoming an active part in the creation of space.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
