Ongoing conflict in Syria has caused devastating effect on the city. It has cast a deeper wound by stealing childhood away from its children. Forced relocation into refugee or displaced person camps, lack of education, food or healthcare, children disabled in war and furthermore the psychological impact of post-traumatic stress can have a lasting impact in their life. The interest of this thesis is on of post-war reconstruction with special care for its children, Architecture for children, as they are the future. The aim is an architecture solution to accommodate the needs of the children with giving due respect to the rich architectural heritage of the city of Aleppo. Architecture can have a lasting impact on grooming and nurturing children. “A house must be like a small city if it’s to be a real house, a city like a large house if it’s to be a real city”. Hence, the attempt is to create familiar environment for the children to grow and flourish by imitating the memory and the architecture of the city. A contemporary approach to interpret the Courtyard homes, wall to wall construction, urban islands into the design. The Centre for children is both a home for the children as well a plan of a small city consisting of hostels, school, preschool, library, playground, multi-purpose hall, health-centre and a neighbourhood park.
Il conflitto in corso in Siria ha causato effetti devastanti sulla città. Ha gettato una ferita più profonda rubando l'infanzia lontano dai suoi figli. Trasferimento forzato nei campi profughi o sfollati, mancanza di istruzione, cibo o assistenza sanitaria, bambini disabili in guerra e inoltre l'impatto psicologico dello stress post-traumatico può avere un impatto duraturo nella loro vita. L'interesse di questa tesi è sulla ricostruzione postbellica con un'attenzione particolare per i suoi figli, l'architettura per i bambini, come lo sono il futuro. L'obiettivo è una soluzione architettonica per soddisfare le esigenze dei bambini con il dovuto rispetto per il ricco patrimonio architettonico della città di Aleppo. L'architettura può avere un impatto duraturo sulla cura e l'educazione dei bambini. "Una casa deve essere come una piccola città se deve essere una vera casa, una città come una grande casa se deve essere una vera città". Quindi, il tentativo è di creare un ambiente familiare affinché i bambini possano crescere e prosperare imitando la memoria e l'architettura della città. Un approccio contemporaneo per interpretare le case Courtyard, la costruzione da parete a parete, le isole urbane nel design. Il Centro per bambini è sia una casa per i bambini sia un piano di una piccola città composta da ostelli, scuola, scuola materna, biblioteca, parco giochi, sala polifunzionale, centro benessere e un parco di quartiere.
