Mercy. Sistema di mobilità urbana per trasporti sanitari

The first steps of this thesis moved from the study and analysis of global megatrends that the world will see unfolding in the next decade. The increase in population and urban areas, the search for security within the comunity and the pervasive digitization, are those that will shape the world of 2030. From these in fact has emerged a scenario that made me curious and led me to wonder how people will interact with the healthcare environment in a similar context. Further research on the trends of medicine and health has been carried out, highlighting many positive aspects expected from new technologies and the latest scientific research, and also new methods to meet the needs of the high number of citizens. Moreover, many negative aspects have been raised, such as the diseases that will afflict and worry millions of people and the impossibility of a large part of them not being able to afford adequate care, because of the high costs. This especially in countries with a privatized health system, such as the United States of America; for this reason selected as the theater of the Mercy vision. From what has been analyzed a displacement emerged between what the world would become and the directions that health is taking. Mercy wants to be an idea, a meeting point, for these two things, and it does so through a self-guided health transport system, based on Italdesign’s Pop.Up concept. The vision Mercy offers a system of health mobility able to adapt to the fluidity of the mega-cities of 2030 using with fleets of different vehicles but all modular and able to move both in ground and air, just like the firm of Giorgetto Giugiaro proposes. Among the vehicles in the system were analyzed the most used ones: the fly-car and the ambulance. If the fly-car sees a simple reconfiguration of the vehicle of Italdesign and Audi, the ambulance proposes a series of new modules. These fully reflect the idea of dynamism and fluidity, in particular the cocoon. This has been designed in a totally modular way allowing to reconfigure it internally, so that it is an ambulance or a medical garrison. Also the proposed furnishings have been studied in order to simplify user experiences and to converge with the initial aims. Cost reduction, timing reduction and closeness of care; these were the three mantras that Mercy pursued with his project proposals trying to inspire and draw a better future.

I primi passi di questa tesi si sono mossi a partire dallo studio e dall’analisi dei megatrend globali che il mondo vedrà dispiegarsi nel prossimo decennio. L’aumento della popolazione e delle zone urbanizzate, la ricerca di sicurezza all’interno della società e la dilagante digitalizzazione, sono quelli che forgeranno il mondo del 2030. Da questi infatti si è delineato uno scenario che ha suscitato la mia curiosità e il mio interesse e mi ha portato a chiedermi come le persone interagiranno con l’ambiente sanitario in un contesto simile. Da qui ulteriori ricerche sulle tendenze della medicina e della sanità sono state svolte, mettendo in evidenza molti aspetti positivi attesi dalle nuove tecnologie e dalle ultime ricerche scientifiche, ed anche nuovi metodi per venire incontro alle necessita della moltitudine di cittadini. Altresì sono stati sollevati molti aspetti negativi come le malattie che affliggeranno e preoccuperanno ancora milioni di persone e l’impossibilità di una grossa fetta di queste di non potersi permettere delle cure adeguate a causa dei costi troppo elevati. Questo specialmente in paesi con un sistema sanitario privatizzato, come gli Stati Uniti d’America, per tale motivo selezionati come teatro della vision Mercy. Da quanto analizzato è quindi emersa una discrepanza fra ciò che il mondo sarebbe diventato e le direzioni che la sanità sta intraprendendo. Mercy vuole essere un’idea, un punto di incontro, per queste due cose, e lo fa tramite un sistema di trasporti sanitari a guida autonoma, basati sul concept Pop.Up di Italdesign. La vision Mercy propone un sistema di mobilità sanitaria capace di adattarsi alla fluidità delle megalopoli del 2030 intervenendo con flotte di veicoli differenti ma tutti modulari e capaci di spostarsi sia via terra che via aria, proprio come la casa di Giorgetto Giugiaro propone. Fra i veicoli presenti nel sistema si sono analizzati quelli più utilizzati: l’automedica e l’ambulanza. Se l’automedica vede una semplice riconfigurazione del veicolo di Italdesign ed Audi, l’ambulanza propone una serie di moduli inediti. Questi rispecchiano a pieno l’idea di dinamicità e fluidità, in particolare il guscio abitabile. Questo infatti è stato progettato in modo totalmente modulare permettendo di riconfigurarlo internamente in modo che esso sia un’ambulanza o un presidio medico. Anche gli arredi proposti sono stati studiati in modo da semplificare le esperienze utente e da convergere con gli scopi iniziali. Riduzione dei costi, riduzione delle tempistiche e vicinanza delle cure; questi sono stati i tre mantra che Mercy ha perseguito con le sue proposte progettuali cercando di ispirare e disegnare un futuro migliore.
