India with its constant growth find in Ahmedabad, the economic capital of the state of Gujarat, is one of the reference points and protagonist of the Country’s productive activity. Given its peculiarities, the City becomes the case study of this Thesis. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, Ahmedabad has established itself in the industrial landscape of the country thanks to the development of a network of cotton mills. However, the competition of emerging countries combined with technological obsolescence has contributed to their gradual closure at the end of the XX century, leading this sector to a total decline. These events also influenced the relative social pattern . The Indian context, with its complex social network cannot simply be studied with traditional methods of representation, but can only be understood starting from its “inside” through an interpretative reading and giving back its “atmosphere” through a photographic project that becomes the key to reading the Thesis. Therefore, for the definition of the Thesis project it is necessary to study comparative cases and the construction of a typological abacus linked to the study of industrial settlements, intended not only as the physical space of production but also of its surroundings, of its experience. In conclusion, the final aim becomes to frame the relationships between the places of work and places of living through a possible scenario of re-use of these abandoned cotton mills and to respond to the growing needs of the Indian population.

Abstract
In conclusion, the final aim becomes to frame the relationships between the places of work and places of living through a possible scenario of re-use of these abandoned cotton mills and to respond to the growing needs of the Indian population.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
