This research consists of a systematic and punctual analysis of two of the most interesting urban recovery and planning projects of the last 50 years: the Bicocca of Milan and the Shahestan Pahlavi in Tehran. Even though they are on two different continents and even if they belong to contexts that in some ways are very remote from the cultural, social, economic and historical point of view, these two case studies present notable affinities, not only from a dimensional and conceptual point of view but also taking into consideration many similarities found in the two design and executive paths. The different urban contexts will be analyzed separately and then the profile of the parallel but asymmetric path of the material and concrete development of the two areas will be created, creating a broad comparative profile that will include all the most significant aspects of the two projects at urban, architectural and environmental levels. . Considering that the Bicocca area (understood here in its present boundaries, or in the larger Grande Bicocca) has evolved substantially in harmony with the original urban project (1985) and the subsequent implementations starting from 2005 underlying the its development while the Shaestan Pahlavi since 1979 (after the Islamic revolution) has evolved in a totally unexpected, contradictory and above all in open contrast with the initial directives conceived in its general plan (1973-1978), this This thesis may constitute a good opportunity to highlight the problems inherent in the development of great pieces of the city and the possibility of resolving them more or less coherently, as in the case of Milan, or to leave them almost unresolved or even aggravating them, as in the case of Tehran.

Abstract
This research consists of a systematic and punctual analysis of two of the most interesting urban recovery and planning projects of the last 50 years: the Bicocca of Milan and the Shahestan Pahlavi in Tehran. Even though they are on two different continents and even if they belong to contexts that in some ways are very remote from the cultural, social, economic and historical point of view, these two case studies present notable affinities, not only from a dimensional and conceptual point of view but also taking into consideration many similarities found in the two design and executive paths. The different urban contexts will be analyzed separately and then the profile of the parallel but asymmetric path of the material and concrete development of the two areas will be created, creating a broad comparative profile that will include all the most significant aspects of the two projects at urban, architectural and environmental levels. . Considering that the Bicocca area (understood here in its present boundaries, or in the larger Grande Bicocca) has evolved substantially in harmony with the original urban project (1985) and the subsequent implementations starting from 2005 underlying the its development while the Shaestan Pahlavi since 1979 (after the Islamic revolution) has evolved in a totally unexpected, contradictory and above all in open contrast with the initial directives conceived in its general plan (1973-1978), this This thesis may constitute a good opportunity to highlight the problems inherent in the development of great pieces of the city and the possibility of resolving them more or less coherently, as in the case of Milan, or to leave them almost unresolved or even aggravating them, as in the case of Tehran.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
