In the following thesis we could find the design solutions and constrains adopted for a new technology in marine field application; in fact, a new concept of completely submerged electrical motor was designed as propulsion unit for boats. The advantages of this solution, which has the propeller directly connected to the motor and so doesn't have the transmission as in usual marine engines, were adequately discussed. The work done presents two different solutions: a first version of the motors designed in order to partecipate and win at "Solar energy boat challenge" hosted in Montecarlo by its own yacht club , while another version was developed for commercial purpose. The components designed represent a starting step for a future development before commercialization.

Abstract
In the following thesis we could find the design solutions and constrains adopted for a new technology in marine field application; in fact, a new concept of completely submerged electrical motor was designed as propulsion unit for boats. The advantages of this solution, which has the propeller directly connected to the motor and so doesn't have the transmission as in usual marine engines, were adequately discussed. The work done presents two different solutions: a first version of the motors designed in order to partecipate and win at "Solar energy boat challenge" hosted in Montecarlo by its own yacht club , while another version was developed for commercial purpose. The components designed represent a starting step for a future development before commercialization.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
