Using knowledge and risk management to mitigate project risk. An exploratory study with a focus on Indian automotive industry

With an ever-increasing investment on the projects, it becomes essential to figure out the risks involved in them effectively at the correct time so as to get best results and better output. If we can get the help from the experienced personals involved in project, this task becomes increasingly easier. The process of managing knowledge inside any organization has never been easy due to the dynamism in companies. Same is the condition with managing risk also. It can become a bit easy if we know the sources of risk beforehand. In this thesis work, we have tried to determine the possible risk sources in the projects along with the KM procedures which could be utilized so as to reduce/moderate/mitigate risk associated with them. Also, to make it more easy, possible resemblances between risk management and knowledge management have been figured out and presented in this work. Different possibilities to combine both these domains together has also been illustrated in this thesis work. To do so, we have taken the help of extended literature review which includes study of a lot of books, journals, articles, magazines etc. on various topics of KM & RM. This included an in-depth study of the concepts, models, current practices in use, implementation and limitations of these important domains of PM. Apart from this, a survey has been conducted among the experienced professionals from automotive industry in order to validate the findings from the literature review section. Most of the respondents of survey are from India which becomes a limitation of this research work. At the end, a viable conclusion has been presented providing answers to all the unsolved questions about this work and the way in which the three objectives of the research work have been fulfilled. Uses in practical scenarios and the limitations of this study work along with the areas in which this study could possibly be extended in future has also been presented in the last section of this work.

Con un investimento sempre maggiore nei progetti, diventa essenziale comprendere i rischi in essi coinvolti in modo efficace al momento giusto, al fine di ottenere i migliori risultati e risultati migliori. Se possiamo ottenere l'aiuto degli esperti esperti coinvolti nel progetto, questo compito diventa sempre più facile. Inoltre, per facilitare questo, sono state identificate e presentate in questo lavoro le similitudini tra gestione del rischio e gestione della conoscenza. Diverse possibilità di combinare insieme questi due domini sono state illustrate in questo lavoro di tesi. Per fare questo, abbiamo preso l'aiuto di un'ampia revisione della letteratura che include lo studio di molti libri, riviste, articoli, riviste, ecc. Su vari argomenti di KM & RM. Ciò includeva uno studio approfondito dei concetti, dei modelli, delle pratiche correnti in uso, dell'implementazione e dei limiti di questi importanti domini PM. Oltre a questo, è stato condotto un sondaggio tra esperti professionisti del settore automobilistico per convalidare i risultati della sezione di revisione della letteratura. La maggior parte degli intervistati proviene dall'India, che diventa una limitazione di questo lavoro di ricerca. Infine, è stata presentata una conclusione valida che fornisce risposte a tutte le domande senza risposta su questo lavoro e su come sono stati raggiunti i tre obiettivi del lavoro di ricerca. Gli usi in scenari pratici ei limiti di questo studio collaborano con le aree in cui questo studio potrebbe essere esteso in futuro è stato anche presentato nell'ultima sezione di questo lavoro.
