Interacting with an archaeological site of such unique and extraordinarily fascinating entity, such as that of Villa Adriana, is undoubtedly an unrepeatable opportunity to try and rediscover the true value of "making architecture". At the same time, this is a design challenge that is not easy: in this work, I decided to superimpose the archaeological and architectural and landscape components, with particular attention to the landscape and vegetation culture. The natural element in Villa Adriana, in fact, is not a simple accessory, but has the same historical value as the archaeological element. Along this site, the constant presence of tree species that identify the different pavilions is immediately evident. Rows of cypresses, ancient olive trees, holm oaks, Judas trees and maritime pines are nothing but co-protagonists of a journey, or rather of a journey, in what used to be the territory of one of the most learned entrants of the ancient Rome. This trip, as envisaged in the thesis in question, wants to be told precisely by the non-architectural component, for the redevelopment of a part of the Unesco Buffer Zone, located between the archaeological site and the Aniene river. Each hectare of this project area traces the journeys undertaken by the emperor from an exquisitely botanical point of view; here, contrary to what usually happens, architecture becomes almost ancilla of the landscape: it becomes an isolated element, but at the same time it is an element integrated with its "negative", since, for anthontamy, the concept of nature is opposed to that of architecture. In fact, it is known that the etymology of the same term "architecture" derives from two Greek concepts: ἀρχή - principle, origin, that is the primordial force that dominates the world, from which everything comes and to which everything will return) - and τέχνη (ability to invent, create, build). Therefore, it is evident how the term, in its substantial meaning, synthetically explains all that is the exclusive work of man; however, my thesis intends to transform the figure of the plant landscape from "negative" to "positive", demonstrating how it is possible that to do architecture, in this specific case, is nature: the first actor of this project of mine .

Abstract
Therefore, it is evident how the term, in its substantial meaning, synthetically explains all that is the exclusive work of man; however, my thesis intends to transform the figure of the plant landscape from "negative" to "positive", demonstrating how it is possible that to do architecture, in this specific case, is nature: the first actor of this project of mine .File | Dimensione | Formato | |
