Un progetto per Città Studi : Biblioteca (2)

The new university library’s project for Città Studi is part of a masterplan project, based on the enlargement of the actual campus that wants to improve some of his spaces and facilities. Analyzed the historical route and the evolution of forms in libraries design across the centuries and assumed the highlights of the building, the main guide principle of the project is that of a unique, compact volume with a great articulation of spaces on the interiors. It wants to repeat the space relationship of the ancient libraries with a great, vertical space as exhibition of the book’s heritage and with the creation of wide reading rooms. The building’s project deals with the themes of architectural composition, structural, technological and plant design.

Il progetto di una nuova biblioteca universitaria per Città Studi si inserisce in un progetto di masterplan che, attraverso l’ampliamento del campus universitario, si propone di migliorare alcuni degli spazi e dei servizi. Preso atto ed analizzato il percorso storico ed evolutivo delle forme che ha assunto nel corso dei secoli l’edificio della biblioteca, ed avendone estrapolato i caratteri salienti, il principio cardine che ha guidato il progetto è quello di un edificio dal volume unico e compatto ma molto articolato al suo interno, che riproponga il rapporto del grande spazio verticale delle antiche biblioteche a pianta centrale come luogo di esibizione del bene librario e quello delle grandi gallerie per la lettura. Il progetto ha affrontato i temi della composizione architettonica, della progettazione strutturale, tecnologica ed impiantistica.
