Eco towers. Strategie di progettazione di una vertical farm inserita in un complesso residenziale e produttivo nel cuore di Londra

The content of the thesis consists in the elaboration of a vertical farm project combined with residential and commercial spaces, with consequent reorganization of the surrounding context. The place chosen for this complex of buildings is London, between Tower Bridge and City Hall. The central building of the project is a vertical farm, an innovative building in which indoor farming for the production of vegetables at kilometer zero coexist with commercial and logistic activities related to the crops themselves. The focus of the project is the integration of green spaces, both productive and recreational, in the heart of a large metropolis.

Il contenuto della tesi consiste nell’elaborazione del progetto di una vertical farm unita a spazi residenziali e commerciali, con conseguente riorganizzazione del contesto circostante. Il luogo scelto per questo complesso è Londra, per la precisione in un lotto posto tra Tower Bridge e City Hall. L’edificio centrale del progetto è appunto una vertical farm, ovvero un edificio innovativo in cui coltivazioni indoor per la produzione di ortaggi a chilometro zero coesistono con tutte le attività commerciali e logistiche legate alle coltivazioni stesse. Fulcro del progetto è l’integrazione di spazi verdi, sia produttivi che ricreativi, nel cuore di una grande metropoli.
