Enhancement of structural damping has become a subject of primary interest in the design of structures, thanks to high potential of 3D printing technologies which allow achieving complex design solutions. The scope of this thesis is study of damping loss factor of light alloys, such as Ti6Al4V and AlSi10Mg, produced by Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Loss factor is measured by means of half-power bandwidth method on rectangular samples in free motion condition. Validation of the measurement setup is presented. The effect of aging on AlSi10Mg and Ti6Al4V samples is analysed, focusing on the resulting mechanical characteristics damping. Results are presented and discussed.
Lo smorzamento strutturale è diventato oggetto di primario interesse nella progettazione di macchine e strutture, grazie anche all'elevato potenziale della tecnologia di stampa 3D che permette di realizzare soluzioni progettuali complesse. Lo scopo di questa tesi è lo studio dello smorzamento di leghe leggere Ti6Al4V e AlSi10Mg prodotte per Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Lo smorzamento viene misurato con il metodo della mezza potenza su campioni rettangolari in condizioni di moto libero. Viene presentata la convalida del setup di misura. Viene analizzato l'effetto dell'invecchiamento su campioni di AlSi10Mg e Ti6Al4V, concentrandosi sulle caratteristiche meccaniche dello smorzamento. I risultati sono presentati e discussi.
