Purpose, originality and value – Innovative solutions characterized by a high degree of digitalization are gaining momentum in the Supply Chain Finance (SCF) landscape. A tool guiding the choice of the SCF solution specific for different Supply Chains and objectives is currently missing. The intention to design of a comprehensive and practical decision-making model embracing the buyer perspective and including the most innovative financial solutions. Design, methodology and approach – The starting point was the literature review: the evidences and gaps identified led to the Preliminary Research Framework design. The findings from the literature were challenged through 9 interviews with experts, following a process made of two testing stages. Indeed, the process started with the Preliminary Research Framework, evolving into the Intermediate Research Framework and resulting in the Final Research Framework. Findings – The twofold outputs of this dissertation are: (1) the matrix reporting the main dimensions that describe the buyer-supplier relationship, mapping the use of innovative SCF solutions based on the characteristics of the supplier; (2) the Decision Tree to support the buyer in selecting the most suitable solution for the characteristics of the Supply Chain and the specific objectives pursued in the relationship. Practical and managerial implications – The final outcome is a comprehensive and practical model: it includes all the variables relevant to the decision, still keeping a functional nature, in order to support the adoption process without increasing significantly the burden of the choice. Indeed, the model is based on a deep understanding of the connection between the features of the Supply Chain and the functioning of innovative SCF solutions. Limits and future research – Because of the innovative nature of the solutions proposed in the Research Framework, the variables in the decision-making model need to be reviewed in the future in the light of their evolution. Moreover, the researchers involved in the subsequent studies should address their efforts to the framework simulation in the real-world companies, in order to corroborate the outcome through practical application.

Abstract
Moreover, the researchers involved in the subsequent studies should address their efforts to the framework simulation in the real-world companies, in order to corroborate the outcome through practical application.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
