The main value and goal is to release parents from critical responsibilities and let them spend quality time with their child, without being worried anymore. Providing an assistance to the parents, it is possible to release their stress and live better, even in a critical situation. At the same time, since the product should be sold with a B to B to C model, the key business intermediate between the company and the end users is the insurance companies providing a service through the healthcare system. For hospital this product is valuable in terms of saving time after the hospitalisation. This system can make them save time and money in the logistic path that must be followed after a convalescence. The goal of the system is to use existing technology to create a software, party embedded in a hardware, able to help parents taking care of their kid, feeling released from some responsibilities and tangibly helped at the same time. The end users are meant to be the parents of the child. The families this product is most intended for are in most of the cases living critical and delicate situations concerning the child’s health. They are most likely to rely on the healthcare and on the field experts. This is the reason why, the product might be firstly valuable for hospital infrastructure, which can provide families this solution as a valid alternative to staying in such a stressful environment more than required. In this context, the user involved are mainly three: parents, healthcare professionals and the child himself. Each one of the actors has different kind of concerns and interests in using the product. Those different points of view of the same product might be linked to different values perceived. For a child, being in an environment that is familiar, especially when they cannot communicate their frustration or their incapacity of staying at ease in a stressful context. This product can be the link for parents and medical experts to access a more objective knowledge about the health situation of the kid. When the baby is carried home, parents can be sure that the Supertoys are helping them to monitor and acquire relevant health datas, without affecting the daily routine. The sensors which are collecting informations are embed in the cradle, the playpen and toys that are directly and constantly in contact with the baby. Everyday, children are entertained with any kind of games. Why do not integrate in those toys a system providing an impact in their and their parents lives?
L’idea per questa tesi di laurea magistrale nasce dall’opportunità di mettere le nuove tecnologie al servizio del design per la progettazione di dispositivi medici. Un prodotto-servizio che si definisce in un sistema di giocattoli per bambini da 0 a 12 mesi, nei quali sono integrati dei sensori non invasivi capaci di monitorare alcuni parametri vitali del neonato. Il primo anno di vita del bambino è il periodo più importante e mutevole, nel quale i cambiamenti mentali e fisici sono all’ordine del giorno. E’ un periodo cruciale nella vita di tutti noi, ed è al contempo una condizione estremamente sensibile. Il fine di questa tesi è creare un sistema che si configuri come uno strumento di supporto per genitori e pediatri, un ponte tra ospedale e casa, in grado di aiutare coloro che si prendono cura del bambino e della sua salute nella maniera più discreta ed efficace possibile. Da questa convinzione nasce l’idea di integrare dei sensori proprio nell’ambiente in cui il piccolo si trova a suo agio ed in tranquillità: la sua casa. E quali elementi più adatti se non i suoi giocattoli? Questi sensori non invasivi e non percepibili dal piccolo sono in grado di monitorare alcuni parametri vitali del neonato, in modo continuativo o selettivo. I dati raccolti dal posizionamento e utilizzo di questo prodotto, vengono raccolti ed elaborati attraverso un network capace di filtrarli e restituirli come informazioni leggibili ed utili. La prima forma di prevenzione è rivolta alla morte in culla, un fenomeno ancora enormemente diffuso, tanto brutale quanto inaspettato. Lo sviluppo ulteriore di questo progetto si rivolge ai casi critici, a rischio o patologici, per i quali è possibile scegliere e customizzare famiglie di sensori che monitorino come da prescrizione medica, specifici parametri che il pediatra decide di tenere sotto controllo.
