In contexts where violent conflicts insist, not only the people but also the architecture of the city suffers the devastating effects produced by the war. The historic center of Aleppo, destroyed by bombing following the Syrian civil war, is certainly an emblematic case for its historical and artistic value. This thesis intends to investigate a possible methodological approach for the reconstruction of the damaged areas of the historical center of Aleppo, especially that of the ancient bazaar, through the development of a project proposal aimed at redeveloping into a new project those forms belonging the urban and architectural tradition of the city. Specifically, the project intervention can be conceived as the construction of a flexible architectural system capable to restore that functional complexity that characterized the city before the conflict. In particular, the types of souks and khans have been redesigned to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of the contemporary city.

Abstract
In particular, the types of souks and khans have been redesigned to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of the contemporary city.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
