In order to respond new demands and the complexity of the contemporary cities, urban planning and design can be supported with the new methods instead of relying the traditional way of design. The abilities of simulation tools increase every single day. Every project has unique nature and features so it is significant for us as designers to analyze those demands and select the most efficient tool to enhance the design product. In this paper, four different tools have been selected to inform design process and applied on the specific case study. Agent Based Simulations, Visibility Graph Analysis, Sky-View Factor and Sun-Exposure Analysis. The main objective of the research is to understand the role of those simulations in practice in order to improve and expedite the urban design.
La città contemporanea è caratterizzata da un alto livello di complessità, richiedendo l’utilızzo di metodi innovativi in urban planning e urban design e mettendo alla prova i metodi tradizionali. Le potenzialità degli strumenti di simulazione crescono di giorno in giorno. La natura e le caratteristiche specifiche di ogni progetto richiedono un approccio adatto e la selezione degli strumenti piu efficienti per migliorare il risultato finale. In questa tesi sono stati selezionati quattro strumenti di simulazione diversi: Agent-Based Simulations, Visibility Graph Analysis, Sky-View Factor e Sun-Exposure Analysis. L’obiettivo principale è quello di comprendere il ruolo di questi strumenti per migliorare e velocizzare il processo di design.
