Performance comparisons of building elements of vernacular and modern houses in Istanbul

This thesis aims to make energy performance comparison of vernacular Turkish houses and today’s modern villa houses via their characteristic building elements. In order to compare, hypothetical case studies will be used with real characteristic building elements of vernacular and modern houses in Istanbul. The analysis will be made and compared via Insight energy tools and will be based on Revit models of both vernacular and modern dwellings. In conclusion, assessing architectural design elements that will benefit energy performance, for the future single family houses development projects in Istanbul.

Questa tesi ha lo scopo di confrontare le prestazioni energetiche delle case turche in stile vernacolare e le case moderne stile di villa attraverso i loro caratteristici elementi di edilizia. Per comparare, casi di studio ipotetici saranno utilizzati, pero con elementi caratteristici reali di case vernacolare e moderne a Istanbul. L'analisi sarà effettuata e confrontata tramite gli strumenti di Insight e sarà basata sui modelli Revit di entrambe le abitazioni vernacolari e moderne. In conclusione, valutare gli elementi caratteristici di progettazione architettonica che andranno a beneficio della prestazione energetica, per i futuri progetti di sviluppo di case unifamiliari a Istanbul.
