Ho Guom C9 metro station, Hanoi, Vietnam. Integrating heritage with everyday life

There are many problems in developing cities. In term of architecture, we have seen that many valuable cultural/historical buildings and areas have been destroying to develop urban and infrastructure. Vietnam is not an exception. Currently, a metro system in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has been constructing. There are many different metro stops will be built around the city in the next 20 years. And, there is one important station, namely “C9 metro station”, located right under an Ancient Area. C9 station is in a very specific site. It is in the city center, in the middle of many historic temples, pagodas, ancient lake and landscape as well as ancient districts of the city. People said this site is the heart of Vietnam. I don't want to see the historical buildings and areas disappear anymore. I am particularly interested in exploring the question of keeping these historical spaces as well as improvement of city’s modern infrastructure at the same time; and giving an approach how to develop a new cultural public space for local people and visitors. That is the aim of this project.

Ci sono molti problemi nelle città in via di sviluppo. In termini di architettura, abbiamo visto che molti edifici e aree culturali / storici di valore sono stati distrutti per lo sviluppo urbano e delle infrastrutture. Il Vietnam non è un'eccezione Attualmente, un sistema di metropolitana ad Hanoi, la capitale del Vietnam, è stato costruito. Ci sono molte fermate della metropolitana che verranno costruite intorno alla città nei prossimi 20 anni. E, c'è una stazione importante, vale a dire "stazione della metropolitana C9", situata proprio sotto una zona antica. La stazione C9 si trova in un sito molto specifico. E 'nel centro della città, nel mezzo di molti templi storici, pagode, lago antico e paesaggio, nonché antichi quartieri della città. La gente ha detto che questo sito è il cuore del Vietnam. Non voglio più vedere gli edifici e le aree storiche scomparire. Sono particolarmente interessato a esplorare la questione di mantenere questi spazi storici e allo stesso tempo di migliorare l'infrastruttura moderna della città; e dando un approccio su come sviluppare un nuovo spazio pubblico culturale per le popolazioni locali e i visitatori. Questo è lo scopo di questo progetto.
