In the heart of Milan, right to Brera district, there is an empty space, a small undeveloped triangle that extends from the corner of Via Madonnina. After being at the centre of various events, the area is today a space that needs to be improved. A corner site placed in a privileged position, a light breath in the congested grid of the urban fabric. It is exactly this expanded space that allows the perception of the passers-by and the inhabitants from and towards different points of view. Everyday the area is characterized by flows: bicycles, people on foot, and become the scene of numerous activities, from a visit to the Pinacoteca, to have shopping, from visiting art galleries, to stopping in bars until meeting with street artists and above all with the fortune tellers, who are now part of the urban landscape. Via Madonnina is an axis that connects the intimate centre of Brera with the busiest street of Via Ponte Vetero. The area remained unused after a collapse. The aim of the thesis is therefore to complete this non-built site through a new building that becomes a spearhead. Just like the bow of a ship, to which it somewhat resembles in form, it will guide the new trend of living in our age. In fact, architecture has always witnessed the socio-cultural changes of society, it becomes an image and bearer of new ways of experiencing spaces; becoming a cross-section of the life of the inhabitants. Our building, called ANTITABLET, encloses, in a sort of showcase, what today is living in relation to the use of the network and social networks. The project represents the idea of “Instagramability”, which today is one of the strongest trends when we hear about showing spaces and places. “Instagramability” means a deep connection between spaces and their possibility of being published and shared by images or videos. As Stefano Mirti says: "Once the house, the living was a status. Twenty years ago, the Italian family was represented in the best living area of the house. Now we represent ourselves with the photos we post on Instagram. People look at the homes of Italians peeking into their accounts. It is a complete transfiguration. How we live, as we tell ourselves, the metaphors and new vocabularies made of objects, situations, imaginary. The Italian house has always been an extraordinary theatre. With Instagram, the previous theatre has imploded and a new form of communication and meaning generation has emerged. People spend two hours watching Instagram Stories produced by their friends. What kind of houses do they live in? How do they live? What are they doing? How do they live? So, the real questions are these." Who better than Influencers who use Youtube or Instagram could become our typical inhabitant, to test and try this new way of life? The idea is that they come to live for a few days in these spaces to carry out their self-promotion through videos or photos taken in an iconic place that can sponsor them. For this reason, it was very important to keep in mind, in addition to the idea of the “Instagrammable” spaces, the idea of flexibility and neutrality of the space that in some ways is able to be molded by the hands of every new tenant. A provocative approach to make social characters and their virtual profiles concrete through a building-machine where the protagonist can show off as much as he wants, and the visitor can enter "behind the screen" to understand its rules and mechanisms.
Come abitano? Cosa fanno? Come vivono?
