Made in Beijing. Mechanisms to build memory of place in city context

Does memory flow through a city/place from past to future in the same way that memory flows through the life of a person? The answer is affirmative. In the book of The Architecture of The City, Aldo Rossi (1966) considered “locus-the characteristic principle of urban artifacts. "The concepts of locus, architecture, permanence, and history together help us to understand the complexity of urban artifacts. The idea of the "city memory becomes the guiding thread of the entire complex urban structure" interests us and becomes our departure point of this research. Our theory research focus on the workings of city memory—the actualization and interpretation of memory in the city of Beijing, and our target is to try to present the particular city memory which is belongs to Beijing in a specific design project.
